This baby was left on the roadside in a gravel pit. She has a perfectly round head, chubby cheeks and gravel cuts on her little knees. She was freshly newborn, the placenta and cord were still attached. She was taken to the hospital that called Neema Baby home in Arusha, Tanzania to come pick the baby up. She will be loved, fed and cuddled as much as possible until a new home can be found for her. Neema is a registered non-profit in the US as well as Tanzania. It is very expensive to operate a baby home, our formula bill is close to $1,500 per month. You can sponsor a baby which helps us buy formula, pay salaries of our 33 Tanzanian workers, buy petrol and keep the lights on.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
